Northwest Kansas Technical College was established in 1964 as a Public Area Vocational Technical School by the Kansas State Department of Education. The school operated under the names of Northwest Kansas Area Vocational Technical School and Northwest Kansas Technical School until March of 2001 when it became Northwest Kansas Technical College.
The college is governed by a nine (9) member Area Board of Control with a chairman, vice chairman, treasurer, secretary, and five (5) board members who are sub-chairpersons of committees: faculty, building and grounds, curriculum, public relations, and student welfare. Additionally, fifteen (15) advisory board members are appointed to the area board and are granted voting privileges. These twenty-four (24) board members come from the 17 counties that are within Northwest Kansas Technical College's service area. |
